I Love Mondays & Mel Robbins’ Reset Checklist

I love Mondays. In all transparency, Monday is the end of my work week, so it has big Friday energy! Also, Monday is our payday at the casino so every other Monday is that much better! Either way, I focus on the things that cultivate peace on Mondays.
There is no such thing as perfection though so I still hit potholes and roadblocks on this path of inner peace. Life is full of tests and triggers to help me identify where I still have room to grow. I give a lot of attention to the way my body feels. Every emotion I feel is a chance to get to know myself more.
One of my biggest triggers right now is my rate of productivity and my lack of time efficiency. I work an evening job so my mornings are open for creativity. But, often I get too many ideas and lack the structure to get anything done. This morning I set a goal to find ways to be more productive and subsequently, more efficient with my time.
I Love Mondays and Mel Robbins!
Seconds after closing my agenda, my podcast notification lit up my screen. Mel Robbins created a 7-day reset checklist to increase my love for this Monday! Along with the podcast episode, she linked a printable copy of the checklist for her listeners to download for free. I love Mel Robbins.
So, I listened to her good ideas, downloaded the checklist, and created a plan for the best week possible. Here is the checklist for you to download! Mine is saved as the ILMR (I Love Mondays Reset) Checklist because I know it’s going to be so helpful for me! I also love that Monday Reset and Mel Robbins start with the same letters!
I Love Mondays: The Reset
1. Do A Brain Dump. I have been an overthinker my entire life. Making a practice out of emptying my mind is genius. It’s like a to-do list that I know probably won’t get completed today—or ever.
2. Free Yourself. She talked about how crossing the things off that you know you can’t or won’t get done releases it from your mind. I loved this almost as much as I love Monday! I felt like I took all my power back. The to-do lists in my mind can be a bit daunting. Once it was all on paper I realized how unimportant some of it was.
3. Set One Priority. She asked us to look at our Dump List after crossing out what we knew we weren’t making a priority this week and find one thing to focus on. One priority. Not that the other stuff isn’t important, but pick one. I’m choosing the Hurt and Healing Poetry Contest submission because it’s due on March 2nd.
4. Plan One Meal. I don’t know about you but, what to eat, is a struggle every day. Nothing sounds good. I’m trying to be more conscious about the number of ingredients in the foods I’m consuming. I work five nights a week so I can only cook two nights a week. I will be planning Wednesday’s dinner after this article and for the first time in years, I’m excited to plan dinner.
5. Schedule One Workout. Once I’m in a habit of working out, I’ll feel a little more at ease on this topic. When the weather got too cold to walk outside, I fell off the workout wagon. It’s a terrible excuse when half of my basement is gym equipment all setup and ready to use. Part of my problem is that I think if I plan one workout, I should plan one a day. I get overwhelmed with unrealistic expectations. This week, I’m planning just one good workout.
6. Plan Time For Rest. Because of this list, I have confronted the part of me that associates rest with laziness and lack of drive. I’m not sure when this became one of my limiting beliefs but I am sure it is one of the main reasons I have overworked my body and mind for years. I’m scheduling a little time every day to do absolutely nothing!
7. Connect With Someone. I am an incredibly lucky woman with solid friends. Connecting with them is so important to me. I try to see my friends as often as possible. I’m the only person I know not on social media so I have to get better at creating ways to connect with my friends! I put “Schedule Friend Dinner” at the top of my Dump List. Maybe I can get all of my people together once a month!
I Love Mondays: The Wrap-up
I’m going to do my best to implement the checklist into my week! I’ll keep ya posted! Thanks for reading! Enjoy your Monday!
