Crystal’s Healing Crystals

A twenty-minute drive to Michigan for rocks, stones, and gems is not a new habit for me. I use crystals for healing. Between Spring and the Autumn, you can find me pulling them from the water at the shoreline of one of my four favorite Lake Michigan beaches. This mid-December trip however, I pulled them out of neatly organized bins at Mystic Beads Earth Wear.
A Story for Every Stone
I was immediately impressed as I entered the shop. Julie, co-owner, showed me around her wide variety of crystal and gems. She has them all categorized and described so well. I told her briefly about the transformational summer I had and how I use my crystal pairings to heal.
A Stone for Every Sickness
Over the last couple of months I have been documenting how I use stones and crystals to stabilize my energy; heal it. Or shift it, depending on the circumstance and environment. Until I started writing this blog, I didn’t realize how long I had been using crystals for healing.
Amethyst and Lavender
The first crystal I held in my hand was an amethyst. It was a gift from my bonus mama, Kim, in 2007. “It’s a healing stone,” she fastened it near the back of my neck as I wept against her heart space. I was in desperate need of healing. I flew to her in Ft. Lauderdale three days after I miscarried my twins. “The ocean air will soothe you CJ.” It was the first time I had been back there since before my dad died in 2004. I haven’t been able to go back since.
I have been doing a lot of inner child work to heal my trauma and shame. While on my journey, I have found that stacking healing modalities increases my energy and vibration! Before I place my amethyst in the macrame necklace that cradles it perfectly, I dab a little lavender in my hand. I rub my hands together quickly for 10-15 seconds, put the crystal in my hands, and roll it around in the oil.
Picture Jasper and Palo Santo
Picture Jasper is one of my favorite stones. It looks like petrified wood. According to crystal healing practices, it is said to be the Earth Mother speaking to her children. It first brings to the surface feelings of guilt, envy, and love that is pushed aside. Once repression is released, lessons can be learned; harmony is instilled and fear alleviated. I love to burn Palo Santo in my house once a week to welcome creativity and good fortune and keep my energies grounded and clear. While at the metaphysical Mom & Pop shop, I picked up some Palo Santo essential oil to accommodate the stone of connection.
Black Tourmaline and Patchouli
On the counter across from the essential oils, something caught my eye; three large black stones. The sticker on my stone of choice had my favorite number, 22. Black Tourmaline is essential for the Connected Capricorns! It is a powerful, protective stone that shields the Zodiac sign from negative energy. It’s especially beneficial for metaphysical work, as it holds an electric charge if heated, cooled, or rubbed. It also promotes emotional resilience, reduces anxiety, and encourages focus.
I can list good reasons to pair patchouli with every crystal in my collection. It is a favorite because it quickly uplifts and purifies my spirit. I love the smell. Patchouli has gained a reputation for its ability to enhance abundance, stimulate the energy of prosperity, and attract wealth.
Hematite and Frankincense
I was drawn to the container of Hematite because of its seemingly magnetic nature. My inner voice screamed with joy at the sight of them ‘To Be Magnetic!’ I picked two. Although Hematite is a nonmagnetic mineral, the two pieces are inseparable without force. The grounding stones are known to help aid memory, balance, and a feeling of centeredness.
Frankincense is one of the most widely known oils used in spiritual practice and meditation. I put a couple of drops in my diffuser every day. While at Mystic, I grabbed a new bottle. I noticed that I felt my energy grounding after putting a few drops on my hematite and rubbing my hands together for a minute.
Gray Moonstone and Lemongrass
Moonstone is said to be a great aid in transformational times. It is a powerful magnifier of intention and carries the healing energies of the new moon. It is beneficial for spiritual growth, as well as hormonal balance. As a post-menopausal woman, this stone stays within my reach at all times.
Lemongrass is one of my favorite smells in the entire world. Its crisp, clean scent soothes my anxiety immediately. Lemongrass has antioxidant properties, antimicrobial properties, and anti-inflammatory properties. My favorite tea consists of a lemongrass and elderberry mix that always gives me an energy boost!
Jade and Eucalyptus
Jade is a symbol of purity, peace, and serenity. It is a high-vibration stone. It is known to attract wealth and aid cellular alignment. I had a few pieces of Jade already but found a beautiful milky piece at Mystic that I couldn’t resist.
Eucalyptus is highly beneficial when I need to focus. I use a few drops in my hand lotion when I could use a boost in concentration. I pair it with my Jade during meditation to keep my heart chakra open and supported.
Crystals for Healing
Karen Frazier wrote an excellent guide that I found at Target called Crystals for Healing: The Complete Reference Guide which is so helpful. The Herbal Apothecary, by Christine Iverson, is also available at Target and is a must for information on healing with essential oils! Happy healing!
